Couldn’t help at Verizon or missed us at band camp? There are other areas that we need assistance with throughout the year especially during the marching band season. One area is something called the "Pit Crew". No, you won't be helping your favorite Nascar driver on Sunday but you will have the opportunity to do one better - help the students and band staff...
The Pit Crew's main responsibility is to ensure the equipment gets to the venues in one piece for the band program - whether that is a home football game, a game across town or a competition. Other responsibilities include:
loading and unloading of the equipment on the truck
assist the students moving the equipment/props on and off the field during some band rehearsals, football games and competitions
build props for the show
drive a tractor trailer
pull a small trailer behind your vehicle
small repairs to the equipment
special tasks/jobs as requested by the band staff
line the field/parking lot
move just about anything you can imagine
No special requirements are needed besides a great attitude, being flexible - as you know, not everything goes to plan - and the interest to help the students achieve their goals. This is open to all parents and mature siblings and don't worry - you don't have to be a carpenter, engineer or a body builder. Can't make it to every event? That is ok - who can - but we can still use your help.
If you are interested in helping or just want to find out more about the Pit Crew, please contact your school's respective Pit Crew lead. Please include your name, phone number and email address.
