Wow – What a crazy few weeks it has been.
Thanks to everyone who took time out of their schedules to volunteer at Verizon over the past few weeks. Since July 1st, we have worked a total of 14 CONCERTS that totaled over 2,200 hours of effort. Of course, we did see our “veteran” volunteers helping out but wasn’t it great to see all the new faces at the concerts? And not only have we been working at Verizon, many of you all have been busy planning band camp (food, chaperones, etc.), supporting the golf tournament, working on trailers, chaperoning NightBEAT, etc. – the list goes on and on and on…
It is great to see two booster clubs come together to support one common goal – supporting all of the students and music of the Fort Mill School District through the two high school bands - Nation Ford HS and Fort Mill HS. It is this type of teaming and support of each other that will help enable all of our students the opportunity to achieve their goals and will help set our band programs apart from the rest.
This week is band camp so don’t hesitate to stop at either high school to see how things are going. There is always something to do whether that is helping in the chaperone tent or serving food. Plus it is a great opportunity to not only get involved by helping the students start their band season journey off on the right foot but to meet other parents, band directors, school personnel, students and folks from the community that make up this wonderful extended family called THE BAND FAMILY!!!
Is Verizon over? Well, not quite. We have 6 concerts remaining including 3 the first week of school. To sign-up, please visit the Verizon section on the band’s website (choose Verizon on the left side of webpage) or contact Julia Harris or Steve Turner if you can assist. Please provide name, phone number, email address and time you can arrive if you can help at these upcoming concerts.
Again, thanks for all you do for the band program.
YOU CAN MAKE (or should we say YOU ARE MAKING) A DIFFERENCE…
