Your latest news about fundraising at Verizon......
The 2011 concert season at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre has been announced.
The booster club will continue its fundraising activities at Verizon Amphitheatre. The band program earns a percentage of the concession stand’s sales and is our most lucrative fundraiser event that benefits the entire band program - marching band, symphony and concert band, percussion and guard - while workers earn student credit points that can be used to help pay for band fees, trips, etc.
The Verizon schedule - see link above - was last updated on March 10, 2011!!!
Car Pools Available - Don’t want to drive by yourself? Please review sign-up list and find a ride. Car pools meet 1 1/2 hours prior to gates opening at Fishbone Grille on Gold Hill Road near Tega Cay and Food Lion at the intersection of Highway 160 and Springfield Parkway near Fort Mill. Also, please review the roster sheets online to make your own carpooling arrangements and coordinate your transportation.
Can't be there until late or can only stay for some of the evening? That's ok - please sign up and let us know when you can arrived and when you need to leave.
How to sign up for Verizon?
Go to the band website, click on the "Verizon schedule" selection on the lower left side of the page or top of this page. This brings up a sheet showing all sign-up events: first column tells when the gates open, time of show, and where to park. Second column gives the event name; third column gives additional info. Fourth column lets you select the event you want to sign up for, and the fifth column will take you to a roster for each event - once the page opens, click on the event from the selections at the top of the page. But let's go back to the fourth column...
Click on the blue button for the event you want to work. This will open up an email form, addressed to bandvolunteer@fortmillband.com, and fill in the blanks.
Move the cursor down and enter the school (NFHS, FMHS). Then move your cursor down to the blank space after Name 1, and type in your first name. The column will automatically widen. Then move the cursor over, enter a "Y" if you're TIPS trained or "N" if not; then move over and enter "Y" if name 1 is a student, "N" if not. Repeat for any additional names.
If you want to carpool, enter "Y" where prompted.
Enter the times you plan to arrive and leave if different from the posted event hours
Then enter any additional comments or info as needed.
That's it! Now - click "send" and you're done.
Once this is received, one of our volunteers will reply confirming you for the event. You will then see your name, and anyone else you signed up, on the roster for the corresponding event.
TIPS training (alcohol awareness training) is required to serve adult beverages at Verizon events but don't let that turn you away - we do have other jobs that do not require the TIPS training (food/soda only windows, kitchen, etc.). Please come out and see what other volunteers are doing for the band program at Verizon that benefits everyone and helps enable our kids to meet their goals as part of the band program!!!
Want to help at Verizon but you are not TIPS (alcohol awareness training) trained? Missed the TIPS training classes earlier this year? Has your TIPS training expired? Please email our mailbox at bandvolunteer@fortmillband.com or our current vice presidents Michele Henderson, Vicki Niedermeier or Peggy Gray (click on name) and provide name and phone number if you want to be TIPS trained and plan to help at Verizon this year.
TIPS training is now available online. The cost of the course is $40 and takes between 1.5 to 3 hours. The band program will reimburse your $40 online course expense via the student credit system (points system) once you have or participated at 5 Verizon concert events. Interested in taking the online course? Please follow this link for instructions - Online TIPS Training Instructions (opens in a new window).
Roles we need at Verizon are:

Several people as "runners" to deliver VIP orders
Managers for the stands - count money, conduct beginning and ending inventory, etc.
Just a couple of reminders –

If your name is not on the list, you will not be admitted.
